[OOC: Hope you don't mind, I went ahead and started the thread.] INAUGURATION TOURNAMENT GAME 3

PantheraImperatrix (Megumi Attabiyah/EPZ-003 Zaber Fang (old)) Megumi sat at the controls of her old Zaber Fang, at one end of the massive tournament dome. To say that she was nervous would be an understatement, yet as she waited for the battle to begin, her expression was totally neutral.
The black Zoid snarled impatiently as it stood waiting for its opponent..."My first real battle, and it's in a tournament...This is going to be interesting." |

The Shield Liger's orange cockpit glass would close, protecting its pilot from any outer elements. Standing tall as if it were stretching its limbs, the Shield Liger would roar in anticipation. Its pilot held the same anticipation, which replaced what most in the situation would feel and being nervous.
"Heh," muttered the youth as he maneuvered his Zoid forward into the arena. It was the first match of the tourny, and Max hadn't had his fill of battles yet. His anticipation had shifted into determination, for he made up his mind that he wouldn't lose out to his foe in this round. Another roar from the Shield Liger after entering the arena would announce it was ready.
"'Ey, Zaber pilot... Good luck."

"Same to you." Megumi replied, taking a long, hard look at her opponent's Zoid, trying to gauge its capabilities. Evidently, it was a high-speed, close-combat Zoid.
The Liger roared, and Tigris snarled in response.

"Well if you're not going to make the first move, then I suppose I will!" yelled Max, making the Shield Liger enter a sprint towards their designated foe. The Zoid would run in a zig zag formation, so that not only would it be a difficult target to shoot at, but so it could get in close to the foe for an assault. As it ran, the blade mounted on the Shield Liger would adjust, repositioning to the side that would enable it to slash the Zaber Fang once it drew in close enough.

"Figures." Megumi mutters, then with a vicious snarl, the Zaber Fang began to move.
Using the Zoid's Composite Sensor Unit to take careful aim, she fired the Saber Tiger's AZ 30mm Double-barreled beam cannon and shoulder-mounted 20mm guns, leading the Shield Liger slightly and aiming for center mass(meaning aiming to target the main body)

In order to fire at the Shield Liger, the lasers would have to adjust. Just as they did, the youth would engage the Shield Liger's trademark equipment; its energy shield. The Zoid's rush continued forward, aiming to slash its opponent still. Max wondered how his opponent planned to dodge, considering the fact that the wasted effort of firing shots would allow the Liger to shorten its distance from its opponent already.

The enemy Zoid deployed its shield, and Megumi merely shrugged, her eye on the blade deployed out in front of her, silently counting to herself.
Timing her move carefully, she jumped, leaping as high as she could and towards her right, over the blade. The instant the Zaber Fang hit the ground, the blade behind it, she hit the ground running and pulled the trigger, firing the tail's 20mm guns at the Liger's side.

Alarms screamed in the cockpit, and the Zoid jolted as the enemy Zoid's blade bit into Tigris's underside.
Thrown off-balance, the Zoid tumbled onto the ground. If the Zaber Fang's trajectory had been parallel to its enemy's, the battle would have ended right there. As it was, Tigris had a deep, diagonal gash in the side of its undercarriage - serious, but not fatal.
The Zaber Fang stood as a couple of shots from the Shield Liger's 20mm tail guns hit the side and shoulder, and immediately moved forward out of its line of fire.
"He's reckless. Still, he's good. I'd better not try a stunt like that again. That damage is gonna make it more difficult to move..."
Megumi said as she targeted the incoming Shield Liger with the 30mm Dual Beam Cannon and shoulder-mounted 20mm guns, aiming its body and especially for the circular track on which its blade was mounted.

The thing about going fast was, there was a tradeoff: The higher your speed, the lower your maneuverability.
Tracking the Rapidly approaching Liger in her scope, she carefully timed her move, then turned Tigris in an outwards arc, moving to the side beyond reach of the blade, and turning in as close a circle as the damaged frame would allow.
Tigris snarled in protest, but obeyed, and as Megumi found herself facing the Shield Liger's unprotected rear, she cut loose with the 30mm Dual Beam Cannon, 20mm shoulder guns, and the triple shock cannon, as well as the small beam gun mounted to it, saturating the enemy Zoid's rear-end with cannonfire.

"Trying to circle me, huh?" Megumi muttered as she saw the Shield Liger change course.
She adjusted the Zaber Fang's course and moved in an outward arc, keeping herself outside the Liger's melee range, and fired the shock cannon and its mounted 20mm beam gun, targeting the deployed blade at the base, at the same time shooting at the Liger itself with the back- and shoulder-mounted beam guns.

On her display, Megumi saw the Liger approaching her from, once again, to slash the Zaber Fang.
"Kind of a one-trick pony, aren't you?" She said to herself, her lip curling slightly in a wryly amused grin.
The Liger was approaching her behind, the blade still deployed outwards to its left side.
In a split second, Megumi had weighed her options and made her move.
She opened fire with the Saber Tiger's tail-mounted 20mm guns, targeting the base of the enemy Zoid's blade. Then, she made a sharp right turn.
Tigris roared in pain, but turned nonetheless, and the next instant Megumi brought to bear the Saber Tiger's shock cannon, 30mm dual beam gun and 20mm guns, and opened fire, targeting the enemy Liger's blade.
