OOC: For reference, I think the 'rocking left and right to dodge missiles' move is where you should consider that your zoid has low maneuverability. Also, the Pteras's missile pods only have a couple missiles in them
The HUD on the pteras screamed a warning at Dr. Fitzgerald 'Damage sustained on left leg and missile pod 1, function of parts ceased'.
"How unfortunate" Gerald muttered "It seems that he got close enough for his gun to be only moderately out of effective range before I matched speeds with him. I guess the Doctor Mod cant take much more of this sporadic fire, but I suppose its time to show him how dogfights are meant to be fought..."
Dr. Fitzgerald then accelerated his zoid to its maximum speed of Mach 2, and pulled a hard left turn. He knew the clunky liger and its catatonic maneuverability couldn't possibly catch up with the angle of his hard right, and Dr. Fitzgerald took extra care to respond to any strange movements or changes in speed the liger made, and adjust his flight plan accordingly.
The point of this maneuver was to fly a tight arc and end up behind the Liger, which the good Doctor believed to be an inescapable maneuver for his slower and less maneuverable opponent to avoid

OOC: If I was maneuverable I would have done a barrel-roll
RJ wasn't about to let this one end like this just yet, he was definitely impressed by the Doctors maneuvers, no doubt about it his opponent was very good, but he still underestimated him. As the Doctor came around behind him RJ turned off his jet booster and dropped out of the sky. As the Pteras flew above him, RJ angled his zoid up and unloaded a few rounds towards it. As he dropped his already-damaged wings were threatening to snap, but they held until RJ reactivated his boosters when he was near the ground and began cruising below the Pteras. Every once in a while it would tip up and unload another round but for the most part it just cruised waiting for him to make his next move.

"I'm terribly sorry Mr. Scrapheap Liger" Dr. Fitzgerald mumbled to himself "But you've done that move before, and it wont work twice."
Just after RJ cut the power on his ligers booster, Dr. Fitzgerald cut the power on the magnetic wings of his Pteras, keeping him firmly behind his opponent. He fired his trump card at the ligers back; the Modular Setup missile that had replaced the normal anti air missiles mounted on a pteras. The missile was set to instant armament and maximum speed, and it careened through the air towards the backside of the free falling liger.
Dr. Fitzgerald was positive that the missile would hit its target, who would need to spend a moment to re-initialize its booster to alter its flight path (a moment that the maximum speed missile would not allow), not to mention that the missile was guided anyway.

"Whoa!!" RJ said as he was hit by a tracking missile in the back mid-drop. The armor damage wasn't too bad though, but bad luck, it had hit the Ligers power source! RJ quickly activated emergency power and activated the jet booster. Then he executed a turn the put him directly in front of the Pteras, he began firing rounds from his rifle, actually trying to take aim this time. They were very close, so, even with its speed, it would cost the opponent if he turned. The opponent probably couldn't fire his remaining missile ether, for since they were so close the blast from the impact would damage the Pteras too. All the while RJ kept a collision course with the Pteras.

".... how did a direct missile hit NOT destroy this things jet booster? That was a high quality anti air missile made to one shot even heavy flying zoids.... this is getting ridiculous" Dr Fitzgerald lamented as the flying liger seemed to only suffer a small reduction in capabilities from the direct hit.
"Its ok though... he still cant escape from this superior tactical position of mine" Gerald mumbled to himself as he focused his attention to remaining squarely behind the liger. He followed it though the long, lazy turn it made ('hopefully now my opponent will realize the curse of low mobility to an air unit' Gerard though to himself) easily with his faster and more agile Ptears, and began to pour fire out of his gattling cannons directly into the ligers backside. This was both the optimum range for the gattling cannon, and for Dr. Fitzgeralds personal aiming skills
"You cant shake me, and I wont get off your 6 until you system freeze" Dr. Fitzgerald commed over to RJ "You should give up, it'll save you a lot of time in your workshop if you do"

"This guys a piece of work!" RJ said. He knew that his opponent had the upper hand, but that was about to change. The shots hit his behind, where everything important had been destroyed already, so he was relatively ok for now. Then he powered down his jet so that it was at minimum, drastically slowing him down. Now he knew his opponent was more maneuverable than him, but that wasn't saying much so it wasn't king of mobility, so i wouldn't have enough time to react and change speeds before it sped below him, as it was going a good 5 times faster that him. As it passed beneath him, RJ would claw his back with his front claws.

"What do you take me for" Dr. Fitzgerald calmly replied over the radio "I am a professional zoids developer, observing is one of my fortes" He jammed on the breaks of his zoid shortly after the Liger reduced its speed, and even used his magnetic propulsion system to apply reverse thrust, causing him to slow even more abruptly.
"Your zoid is limited in actual movement, i can tell by its flying apparatus and weighting" The Doctor taunted as he continued to pour fire into his opponents backside, specifically aiming for the rocket "So you compensate by trying to quickly alter your speed. You've done it twice already, and any scientist who cannot recognize such an obvious trend, and prepare to act accordingly is not worth his salt. I'll say it again, from the tricks you've already shown me, and the capabilities of our zoids, i hypothesize that there is no escape for you"
Dr. Fitzgerald held his thrusters at a twitch away even as he touted his advantage. He was very much expecting the liger to again try and speed off to try and escape this once again disadvantageous situation.
