Jonny watched as his blade only skimmed the Houndsoldier once more, and began to hear the unnerving noise of metal beginning to bend... THE BLADES?! "Shi- He's got me caught between a rock and a hard place. If I lose either blade I'm at a disadvantage. In that case..." He said as he retracted the side blades, though the one in the ground did in fact snap slightly, but remained mostly intact as the Houndsoldier practically pushed Jonny back on his feet and gave him a chance to slip away. He turned around only when he was a far enough distance to not get immediately countered. For once he calmed down as he assessed the situation. His zoid was reaching its limits. Mobility was down to 50% the norm, though he could still turn like normal, any lower though would be pushing it. His armour was starting to wittle away from the missile blasts, and to be frank - it was getting stuffy in the cockpit. This time, instead of rushing in, he'd let Max make the next move.

[/b] Max pondered, making the Houndsoldier pursuit the Saberlion as it ran away. When the Saberlion stopped, thinking it was out of danger, Max would maneuver the Houndsoldier around it, sticking five meters away. After circling it once, he would come around to behind the Zoid, leaping for a claw strike from behind. Not only had circling the Zoid built up speed, but it ensured that the Saberlion couldn't keep up with his movements, considering its damaged legs. Max carefully watched his opponent, pondering just how much longer this battle would go on. "C'mon Weiss, we can go the whole way." Muttered Max in a soft tone. The Houndsoldier emitted a light growl, as if denoting it understood its pilot.[/ul][/ul][/sup]

Jonny watched as Max circled him, and tried to keep up. However he only got three quarters of the way there when the Houndsoldier leaped at him. This was it - now or NEVER!
*cue this music*
Jonny flipped the switch, the one he had decided against pushing earlier. He was glad he had, cause to be frank - Max couldn't be seeing this coming at all. It was something the standard Saberlion couldn't do, out of the sheer fact it wasn't in the blueprints. Well Jonny had screwed the blueprints, and added it on by force. 'It' was an E-shield that flared into existence, the beehive shaped energy barrier encompassing the entire Saberlion. This was a full shield, not the incomplete one you got on a Shield Liger, which meant even the Saberlion's rear was guarded. The Houndsoldier would bounce off the energy shield, leaving it vulnerable in the air. This gave Jonny his final chance. If this didn't work, his only other option would be unacceptable by his standards. He unfolded the front blade once more, and jumped at the Houndsoldier, attempting to impale it, but not through the zoid core. "TAKE THIS!"

[/b] Muttered Max to himself, seeing the E-Shield spring up. He couldn't help but wonder how the guy managed to get a fullbody E-Shield. It's not like he could stop the leap mid-air, so he would have to take it. Or would he? Max would unleash six missiles in the same spot at one point of the shield. If there was anything Max new, E-Shields could only last against so many hits. As he came closer, he shifted the Houndsoldier's weight forward, the weight adding behind the power of his claw strike. If the shield managed to last even after six missiles, it would still have to face the paw attack, which was backed with over a hundred thousand pounds. Max furrowed his eyebrows, wondering what his opponent would do. "You're not out of the woods yet!"[/ul][/ul][/sup]

"SUNNUVA!" Jonny yelled as the Shield's output dropped, but it still held despite the six missile attack. It was old most definitely, after all he'd found it in the junk yards, abandoned after the war was over. But it was still useable, still an operating piece of equipment. Then the Houndsoldier smashed down on the Shield. It didn't break, but the Houndsoldier was beginning to go through. It was literally shoving in. "Not this time!" Jonny yelled as he diverted ALL available power to the shield, including simple movement. Then there came a problem. By raising the shield output back to normal, he'd caused the Houndsoldier to become literally stuck. The Shield however had a tendency to try and fill every space possible, and as such, was actually filling the gaps between circuits. The following result? Cue the electrical surges. It was like Lightning bolts were striking out in the Shield. Even worse, because he HAD diverted all power to shields, Jonny couldn't even open up the cockpit to get out - since it required minimal energy. However he knew the same couldn't be true for Max, "GET OUT OF HERE!"

[/b] yelled Max. His Houndsoldier's rear would touch the ground, as it wouldn't stay suspended in the air forever. Despite the reinforcement, the E-Shield's weakness remained. It could only take so many hits. If six missiles almost did the trick last time, Max knew how far to go. He would make the Houndsoldier shift its weight to its hind legs, as to not continue pushing into the shield. He would then take aim, firing missile after missile at the same spot on the shield. After unloading eight missiles in the same spot, Max would make the Houndsoldier raise its untrapped claw, driving it down into that very spot with a heavy strike. But he wouldn't stop. His Zoids head would lunge forward, striking the shield with a bite at the same spot. He would go back and forth between bites and claw attacks until the shield went down. "Don't give up, Weiss!" Yelled Max, urging his Zoid on. Even though Jonny's move could result in the death of them both, he wouldn't let the kid die without trying to help. Besides, if he didn't destroy the shield before it exploded, he would lose his precious Houndsoldier.[/ul][/ul][/sup]

Jonny watched as Max's houndsoldier attempted to batter down the shield's quite honestly - EVERYTHING - it had. Then he heard something, a slight bit of static... feedback! The energy must've reversed slightly due to the damage the shield was taking, which meant... He used what little energy he had under his control to lower the front part of the shield, though not the entire thing. Since he knew what was coming next. Also using another surge in power to get the cockpit open, he jumped onto the Houndsoldier's paw as it came down on the Saberlion's cockpit, and ran all the way up to Max in his. Forcing the thing open through the emergency release located on the outside, he took the lever from Max's hands. He then made the Houndsoldier jump back as the Saberlion exploded into a million pieces, though the blast was contained by most of the shield. Sitting on the Houndsoldier's cockpit, and watching as the judge declared.
"Battle Over, Battle Over. The Winner is... The Blaze Team!" "Wait what?! Max is the one who won!" "Zoid victory comes with the complete incapacitation of the opponents zoids, destruction however is impermissable, and results in an immediate disqualification." "But he saved my life, and he didn't destroy my zoid - I did." "Deliberating... Deliberating... Under those circumstances, then the winner is in fact... Max!" "Well looks like I'm now part of the Aegis Team. Guess that means my old base stuff belongs to you now. Cause I'll have to buy a new zoid and all - but hey look on the bright side. You get so much stuff for free." He laughed as he use a remote to lower down a platform from the Gustav for the Houndsoldier. He however climbed the cable straight to the Gustav, and started up the engine. "What are you waiting for? Get on Leader."

[/b] Exclaimed Max, seeing the cockpit forced open. As his Houndsoldier was forced backwards, steering it away from the Saberlion's explosion. He would sigh, relieved that the pilot was alright. Although he did feel sorry for the Saberlion, who clearly wasn't coming back. Though he had to admit, it was a nice plus that now he had a team mate even though he planned to be a loner from the start. "Alright, Jonny. And please, just call me Max." Muttered Max, letting out a slight laugh. Being called "Leader" just had an awkward feel to it. He would make the Houndsoldier sprint to the Gustav, moving it onto the platform and then gently pet his Houndsoldier's control panel, laughing a bit. "You did good, Weiss. So Jonny, welcome to Team Aegis. Let's head to the Mechanics Lane and find you a new Zoid. I can fix the Houndsoldier myself when we get to the base." He said in a rather at ease tone, considering what just transpired. He would jump out the cockpit of his Houndsoldier and begin walking to the cockpit of the Gustav.[/sup][/ul][/ul]

[/b] Yelled Max, hopping into the driver's seat of the Gustav and taking himself and Jonny off to the Mechanics Lane. Perhaps Max could finally upgrade his Houndsoldier, get it a cool gun or something. Whatever the case, he couldn't wait to see the stuff he had to work with at the base. Of course, he would make sure Jonny found a Zoid first. For now, he would just enjoy the trip there with his new team mate. [Exit][/ul][/ul][/sup]
