The stadium was about half filled for the day's events, only being one of the many rounds to come. The audience had been milling around for a while now, some for about half an hour. Concessions were being sold, and cameras were being set up by the ZBC (Zi Broadcast Corporation). In a few minutes, though, the audience's attention focused on the massive field in front of them, and they started to quiet down. The zoids had arrived! The doors to the stadium's sides opened up, and the various contestants started to file in one after another, their zoids properly stripped for the contest. Five circular arenas were flat against the ground around the field, level with the floor. After both contestants would arrive and climb into it, it would rise up into the air, and the match would begin!
[/b] he muttered to himself, awaiting the arrival of his opponent. He could feel his excitement resonating with that of his Houndsoldier, moving it towards the center of the battlefield. At least his opponent couldn't launch a surprise attack from behind a door. [/size] [/ul] [/ul]

The elevator-like machine lifted Tyro and his Dark Horn up into the tournament grounds with no strain, and little noise besides the grinding gears and roar of the crowd. He had yet to be in a battle as such, and was itching for it, even though he found that the weapons while in this tournament were to be stripped. His Dark Horn was now bare of its heavy cannons, the Gatling gun and missles detached and waiting for him in a stowage place.
He now looked passed his protective cockpit glass and to his opponent, a Houndsolider. His thoughts were that clearly the Hound would have a speed advantage, and he would have muscle. That was obvious, the opponents Zoid looked lithe, made to move, and even though the Dark Horn's speed improved without the added weight of weapons, he doubted he could charge faster. Nevertheless, with a battle cry and pushing into manual control, Tyro's Dark Horn would lt out a load roar before charging straight towards the Houndsoldier.

[/b] joyfully yelled Max, a bright smile on his face. The boy was a lover of Zoids, so anytime he saw a Zoid different from his own he couldn't help but gawk at it for a quick moment. But he found he wouldn't have time to soak in its designs, for the Dark Horn came charging at him. Max would furrow his eyebrows a bit, shifting the Houndsoldier's controls around a bit. "Geez, why must everyone I fight begin with a charge? Meh, I suppose this is a close combat based tourney." he muttered to himself, easing his grip on the controls. The movement of the controls he had made were to simply make the Houndsoldier leap to the side as the Dark Horn rushed by. As the Houndsoldier landed front feet first, Max would make it shift its weigh so that the Zoid would pivot to face the back of the Dark Horn. Pushing the controls forward, Max would make his Houndsoldier charge, leaping at the Dark Horn with a claw strike to its hide. While his opponent was at a speed and armament disadvantage, Max knew the Dark Horn had quite the thick armor. This battle could take quite awhile, and maybe this pilot knew how to handle their Dark Horn in close combat scenarios.[/ul][/ul][/sup]

Tyro's charge sent him into his battle sense. Adrenaline pumped through his veins as he charged and he would now feel ready and open for a fight. His Zoid traversed the distance between it and the Houndsoldier in no time, his massive size carrying him forward with ease. As expected, the Zoid would dodge, with a leap to the side. As it did, Tyro quickly jerked out of his movement and took a short skid to face the Houndsoldiers newly procured claws. Instinctively, with heightened reflexes Tyro jerked back the controls so the Dark Horn would shift down and back, the claw would just miss the tip of the horn, and then thrusting forward, Tyro would drive the Dark Horn's close range weapon, the horn forwards and upwards to the Houndsoldier, aiming for the underbelly.

[/b] Muttered Max after feeling the Houndsoldier's attack miss. So this guy did know how to handle his Zoid in close combat, which meant that this fight would indeed be tedious. But at least that meant that this fight would be interesting even if it were difficult. Max knew of the danger in passing over the Dark Horn's dark horn. While he couldn't change direction mid-air, he could find a platform. As the Houndsoldier came over the body of the Dark Horn, Max would manipulate the controls to make the Houndsoldier shift it weight. First the front paws to help it plant them on the Dark Horns back. He would then make the Houndsoldier shift its weight to the hind legs, letting them come down for the Zoids to push off the Dark Horn. It would glide forward at a great height from the jump, Max grinning a bit. "Wooh!" Yelled Max, making the Houndsoldier pull a turn on its front legs like it had done before. Then it would make a run at the Dark Horn once more, however this time it would stop two meters away and turn. The Houndsoldier would circle the Dark Horn, striking from the side with its bite fangs. Tyro's momentum would move his Zoid upwards some, and he saw and felt the unexpected motion of the enemy Zoid bounding off his own Zoid. The action made him feel very offended, but he would continue to make his Zoid go into fluid motions against the enemy. Firstly he would turn his Zoid on it's hind legs to face the opponent, since he knew it was now behind him, and it charged he would crouch low. Suddenly the Zoid would circle over him, and quickly he would change his tactic by making a quick rotation to his left so that the Dark Horn's thick tail and spike would slam into the other Zoid.

[/b] sounded Max to himself, pondering his next move. Even though he had distanced himself, he decided to rush in for another assault. This time it was a head on assault, rushing straight at the head of the Dark Horn. He would stop half a meter away, leaping forward with the momentum behind it for added force, attempting to strike the actual horn of the Dark Horn. [/ul][/ul][/sup]

As expected, the Houndsoldier would evade the Dark Horn's assault, but Tyro expected as much. Tyro's motions at least kept the enemy at bay, and so far he wasn't too damaged or exhausted. As Tyro rerouted his Zoid to face the direction the Houndsoldier had gone in, he saw the enemy running away. Now, from what had gone on so far he didn't expect a retreat from his enemy, and he didn't wish to charge either. Instead, once he saw the enemy Zoid pushing around to face the Dark Horn again, Tyro set himself in the same low crouch, and awaited the collision. His horn would point downwards until the Houndsoldier can close enough, where he would spring on on his hindlegs for a poweful horn lift.

As expected the Houndsoldier's route would unexpectedly change. Tyro had planned on this movement, and when the zoid leaped to his left, Tyro jammed his controls. The Houndsoldier's speed would easily outmatch the Dark Horn's and thus the bite would land. However Tyro had added protection to himself, with extra layers of armor. The Houndsoldier would land, but it's teeth would either jam further into the armor and become quite stuck, or go shallowly into the armor and not do much harm. Either way Tyro would shift his Zoid's head to the left, and the large horn would slam into the smaller Zoid's head if successful.

[/b] muttered Max to himself, knowing his Houndsoldier's fangs were stuck in the Dark Horn's leg. Oh well, this gave Max a vantage point. Now he could avoid the horn and tail of the Dark Horn with it open for his assaults. Upon landing a bite, however, he wouldn't allow time for the rhino to react. His plan from the start if he managed to bite the Dark Horn's side resulted in his next maneuver. His left paw would go out, viciously clawing at the head of the Dark Horn. Not only would this damage the head, this would also keep it from giving him trouble. While he did this, the other front paw would go out and slam into the side of the Dark Horn, getting some damage in there as well. Using his Houndsoldier's grip on the Dark Horn's leg armor to support its weight, it would continue the paw thrusting motions to claw away at both the body and the head, hoping to freeze the Zoid's system eventually.[/ul][/ul][/sup]

OOC: This just doesnt end....
The Dark Horn's neck gears couldn't swerve far enough to strike the Zoid. He was in a bad position, his enemy had found a blind spot on his body. Though the Houndsoldier's strike would not yet be able to penetrate his armor. Tyro could feel the pressure of the added Zoid's weight from the cockpit. He could still see the Houndsoldiers form bringing up it's claws for repeated strikes. Tyro had a burst of an idea, and as soon as both paws came up, he jerked the Dark Horn's entire body into the Zoid. If successful he would bash into the Houndsoldier and send both Zoid's toppling.

[/b] muttered Max to himself, feeling the weight of the Dark Horn come towards them. But he already had a counter to such a movement. The Zoid would continue thrusting both paws out, but the hind ones would push to jump back. As it did so, it loosened its fang's grip on the Dark Horn's thick armor. The result? Basically, the Zoid threw its weight into jumping back from the toppling rhino. The paws would press against the side of the falling zoid, attempting to push itself out. While this would cause the teeth of the Zoid to break off, it would ensure the rhino was dragged down, and perhaps damage the legs from the added force of the Houndsoldier's weight pulling on the rhino's weight. Hopefully, this would leave the rhino on its side, getting up a rather difficult task if the legs were indeed damaged. With an opening for assault, the Houndsoldier would attempt to stomp on the Dark Horn's head with one paw. This was indeed another attempt to induce a system freeze.[/ul][/sup][/ul]

"Detecting inactivity from the pilot of the Dark Horn! Winner: Max!" yelled the judge, announcing the victory of the Houndsoldier pilot. It would retract into its shell, for with the battle over so was its job. The Houndsoldier was now allowed to exit the arena, the audience clapping in the background with some booing because of the way that the fight had ended.
