BATTLE GUIDELINES
There are three kinds of battles you may encounter while playing on the forum. For rules on the actual roleplaying of the battles, please see the Roleplaying Rules thread. Details on prizes/penalties are detailed below.
SANCTIONED BATTLES
Sanctioned battles are issued on challenge, when one team formally challenges another to battle. They may also come up by chance, as the ZBC issues opponents to teams who haven't fought in a while. Prize money is detailed below, by rank. When fighting in teams, the rank of the team leader is the rank of the team.
S Rank - 40 posts, 150 Team Points
A Rank - 35 posts, 125 Team Points
B Rank - 30 posts, 100 Team Points
C Rank - 25 posts, 75 Team Points
D Rank - 20 posts, 50 Team Points
*For notes on Team Points, see the Team Rules section.
Each team member gets the post amount listed above. The losing team does not get any prize or penalty. Teams may only challenge other teams that are up to one rank higher. A "B" Rank team, for example, can only challenge up to A rank. Higher ranks can always challenge lower ranks, however.
When facing an opponent of a rank higher than you, if you win, you gain an additional 10 posts of prize money for each rank higher they are. When facing an opponent of a rank lower than you, if you win, you get 10 posts less of prize money for each rank lower they are. You cannot get negative prize money.
At the end of your battle, or if you cannot agree who has won the match, please contact a moderator. They will determine the winner if necessary, then assign the proper reward to the victors.
For sanctioned battles, if one member does not post within 3 days of their turn coming up in the post order, they are removed from the match. This includes, but is not limited to, battles where the match is agreed to ahead of time and started, but the member does not show up for it. In both cases, the battle continues on without the member. If that member is the only one on that side, then the battle is the other team's by default.
UNSANCTIONED BATTLES
When the Backdraft organization is in charge of these battles, they are not officially sanctioned by the ZBC. However, the Backdraft group does have their own way of running the battles, which is somewhat similar. The differences are listed below.
- The prize money is double that of a normal battle, for both individual post boosts and team points earned.
- The cost of defeat, however, is losing the equivalent amount of points you would have gotten from winning a Sanctioned battle.
- Backdraft either use battle mode 0999 or none at all. Either way, that means no rules and restrictions on the battle, which allows for trickery and deceit.
UNORGANIZED BATTLES
These are when Zoids are used as weapons instead of for sport combat. Defending your base from raiders, attacking a town, fighting in the wilderness without any judges, dark or not. These are all types of unorganized battle. There are no rules to this, and no prize money to be gained. Oftentimes, your opponents will be criminals and raiders who use their zoids as weapons.
BATTLE MODES
The Zoid Battle Commission oversees all official battles, and must be present in order for battles to be official and count towards prize money. The various battle modes are described below.
COMMON
0982 - Pre-determined number of zoids, no restrictions on arsenal.
0992 - One on one duel. No restrictions on arsenal.
SPECIAL
0973 - Ground-only battle, takes place usually with obstacles like a maze.
0988 - Limited long range weapon match. May have restriction on amount of ammunition.
0999 - Backdraft battle mode. No rules.
1001 - Royal Cup battle mode. Will be described when the Royal Cup arrives.
6990 - Virtual battle mode. Shooting challenge. Used for simulations.
0240 - Brawl battle mode. This site's signature, seen in the seasonal Brawl tournaments. Weaponless zoid combat.
