Amaya knew there was no one she could win. Her speed was drastically lowered and she had very little chance of victory. She let her zoid move to a laying position. It took the weight off the injured leg, but it didn't allow her to easily see her opponent. There was one advantage. Her back legs dug into the ground ready to propel her forward. She watched the Saix stalk her, but she wasn't worried. She had one last trick up her sleeve and she was going to use it to the best of her abilities.

Shadow scrutinized his enemy closesly as they put their Zoid into a laying position. He was still skeptical about the intelligence of charging in, despite the zoid putting itself in such a lax position. Upon closer inspection however, he noticed that though the front part of the body was relaxed in order to take pressure off the damaged elbow, the rear legs of the Zaber were in more of a coiled position, such that the zoid could easily propel her zoid forward at a moment's notice. Despite his zoid's better condition, Shadow knew that in terms of raw power a Zaber Fang was much stronger than his Lightning Saix. If it got into a battle of brawn vs brawn there was a very real chance that the Zaber could come out on top despite its handicap.
Thinking hard about his options and analyzing his opponent closely, Shadow contented himself with continuing the circle around the Zoid until coming to a stop directly behind the zoid. He then turned to face the Zaber which was still near the middle of the arena while he put the Saix into a ready crouch of his own so he could escape if needed. There was still 2 and 1/2 zoid lengths between himself and his opponent and this distance would help ensure his ability to react to any threats the opponent might pose.

Amaya knew that since the lightening saix had disappeared from view it had to be behind her, but she showed no sign of fear or anxiety towards this fact. This was a waiting game and she had no intentions of failing. She wouldn't lose this match even if it meant she had to wait for hours for her opponent to attack. The lightening saix may be fast, but there was still a god chance that when it attacked the zaber fang would retaliate quickly enough to strike.
"Nice skills, but I can't lose this match." Amaya stated through the speaker. That was the only sign that the zoid was still inhabited.

When he heard his opponent state their resolution, Shadow didn't show any emotion. However, internally he noted that based on their mindset his opponent was just a zoids pilot. They thought of this brawl as a zoids match, not a fight or battle; a friendly competition who's purpose was to win and help you improve your skills. To Shadow this was much more, a primal fight between two opponent's who's only objective was to crush the other to the point that it couldn't fight.
Shadow's thoughts quickly returned to the battle at hand as he noted the position his opponent was in. What could his opponent hope to accomplish in such a position. Shadow quickly began thinking about what kind of plan he might make that would work in a situation like this. Suddenly, it occurred to him generally what his opponent had planned. 'Sound... She's waiting for the sound of my charge since I can't mute my steps on the hard arena floor. That's how she plans to determine where I am and when I attack despite not being able to see me...'[/color] Having mentally determined what his opponent probably had planned, Shadow decided to see if he could turn his opponent's plan on itself.
Keeping to his character, Shadow put the Saix into a run and began to quickly close the distance between the two zoids. When he was within one zoid length he then put the Saix into a jump as his opponent probably expected. However, rather than jumping forward in order to pounce on and attempt to tear apart the Zaber Fang, Shadow jumped backwards, using the Saix's natural agility to quickly change the direction of its momentum, pushing it back to around 2 zoid lengths away from the Zaber. He watched his opponent closely, waiting to see if his opponent fell for his trick.

Amaya heard the sound of the moving zoid and waited for the impact that would come. She wasn't going to waste a last chance attack on open air. She wasn't going to make any move until the Lightening Saix was on her. That would be when a hit had the best chance of landing. The way the battle was going she already ran the chance of losing so she was going to go all or nothing. She might lose if she was to slow to react to a direct attack, but she would surely lose if she attacked open air leaving herself wide open.
"You really think you can trick me right now? I have nothing to lose in a fight of brawn against you. I'm already in bad condition so I don't have to be careful, but you still do." Amaya pointed out with a brief chuckle. The opposing pilot had to be careful to avoid ending up in the same condition as Amaya. That was the only advantage she had. She literally had nothing else to lose. Her zoid was at its limit for damage or close to while the Saix wasn't. One good hit could change that for the Saix though.

Shadow narrowed his eyes as his opponent didn't react. So it wasn't waiting based on sound, and by his opponent's speech that could only mean that his opponent really was willing to take a hit in order to take this into a brawn vs brawn battle. If that was his opponent's plan...
Shadow began running in towards his opponent again, rather than attacking directly from the back, he ran slightly to the Zaber's right so that as he approached he was heading in diagonally on the side with the disabled leg. When he pounced at about 1/2 a zoid length away, he jumped towards the Zaber's right flank, keeping his eyes acute for the inevitable counter.

Amaya cursed at the fact Shadow had attacked in a direction she hadn't wanted, but she could still turn this in her favor. The zoid was attacking her rear flanks and she had to go against what her instincts screamed. She couldn't attack not yet. She had to wait, wait until contact was made. The lightening saix could easily jump away before it made contact or change direction upon landing. The zoid had faster reflexes then hers and she wouldn't waste her last chance at victory. So she waited, her hands tightening on the controls of her zoid. The back leg twitched slightly as the nails dug deeper into the ground. It was hard to tell what exactly she was going to do. It was hard to tell wither she would counter or jump away.

Seeing that his opponent still hadn't reacted... Shadow knew with almost certainty that his opponent was waiting for first contact before making their counter. He wondered if his opponent's instincts were telling them to move... If they were, then they should trust them as with this confirmation of intent, Shadow implemented his own plan. He pulled back the Saix's outstretched paws and set his zoid up so that both claws and his own fangs would hit and sink into his opponent almost simultaneously.
When the Saix reached its target 3 things happened at almost the same time: the front right claws of his Saix sank into and attempted to jam the exposed outer gear of the Zaber's right rear elbow, hoping to jam it. While this was happening, the Saix's front left claws were thrust into the gap between the zoid's main body and its rear right leg, digging into the area and possibly destroying the inner gears. At the same time, the jaws of the Lightning Saix bit into the rear flank of the Zaber's rear right leg, keeping the Saix's head out of range of the enemy Zaber.
Less than a second after gripping the Zaber in this three-fold grip, Shadow's rear legs made contact with the ground again, and he coiled them, ready to use their fleet force to pull away and shred the areas he had gripped with tooth and claw.

Amaya growled as the attack hit its mark. She cursed the failure of her plan. She knew that if she knocked the Saix off of her it would mean the end and if she didn't it meant the end. "I guess your the better pilot. Next time we fight I promise you I won't be so easy to beat and it won't just be a battle to me. It will be much more then that...I will fight like my life depends on it!" Amaya said before she jumped away from the Saix causing her own defeat. The system freeze happened quicker then she had expected, but she had wanted to lose trying to evade the oncoming attack.
"This is not defeat, but merely a set back. I will recover and I will return...and I will win." Amaya said signaling the battle was over. She admitted defeat and accepted it.

Shadow was mildly intrigued by his opponent's statement once he'd put them in checkmate. It appeared that this defeat had simply made them more determined to win in the future. He was even more intrigued when his opponent leapt away from him in order to prevent him from finishing the zoid off himself.
Leaving his "Apathy State" now that his opponent's Zoid had experienced a Command System Freeze, Shadow smirked as he gave his reply to his downed opponent. "Hmph... So long as you remain a pilot you can't beat me. Still, your determination holds potential."
As soon as he'd said this, Shadow heard the Judge make its final decision. "Battle Over! Battle Over! The winner is... Shadow Zeranion!"
With his victory officially acknowledged Shadow's Lightning Saix began to leave the arena. As he left though he left so final advice to his opponent. "You're developing the right mindset. Zoid battles aren't about winning though. They're about beating down your opponent so that they can't fight, and as a result gaining victory. If you can break away from the constraints that the Zoids Battle Commision unintentionally places on you then you just might become a Zoid Warrior and not be a simple pilot. After all, it's only in life risking battles that a Zoid Warrior can truly be born." His piece said, Shadow left the arena wondering whether his opponent would be one of the people to leave the constraints of a simple pilot and become a warrior.

Amaya listened to his words and smiled. He had no idea how his words had effected her. She was backdraft, but even in unsanctioned battles she was still restricted in her mindset. She had to stop caring about her enemies and just attack with ill intentions. She would break free of this pilot role and become a true backdraft member. She would never again let irritating restrictions effect her.
Now that the battle was over her zoid was carried off the arena to be repaired. [exit]
