Bandit Troubles (Mission - Rui)

Out in the desert, a group of five basic Rev Raptors were running across the desert sand. About 3 miles ahead of them lay a small town that the bandits liked to raid every few weeks. Full of glee, the 5 pilots of the F-Rank Zoids were unaware of the mission request that had been submitted regarding their elimination...

Rui was stationed close to the middle of the town. It was a rural area, with plenty of open land for setting traps. She had found a few old Claymore mines in Kuro, and had rigged them up in three set of four mines each. Though Claymores were only anti-personal landmines, when rigged together like this, they could easily take out the Rev Raptors she was planning to face. She had arrived almost four days earlier, and had immediately begun drawing up counter attack plans.

Now, there was a wall of pitfall traps large enough to almost fit a shield liger within; certainly they could hold a Rev Raptor. Plus, each one was filled with about two feet of electrified water, to induce CAS, death, whatever was needed to complete the mission. Rui still hoped they survived, she didn't want any deaths on her mind at the end of this. On the far side of the village were some hastily constructed Trebuchets, with ample supplies of ammo. Rui and Ciel were hidden in the forest under a stealth cloak, which was essentially a large piece of netting with pieces of nearby foliage in it.

Nevertheless, it served its purpose, hiding whatever was hidden beneath it's knots. Sitting in wait, Ciel was sitting on a slight ridge in the forest that afforded them both an elevated position from which to attack the Rev Raptors, using the AZ assault rifles as makeshift sniper weapons, and, because of the sharp angle at which the mountain rose behind them, a quick launch should sniping fail.

Everything was oriented in the same direction from which the thieves were expected to approach, and were approaching. All that was left was to wait.

(OOC: This is a surprise. I didn't think anyone would take an opportunity to set up traps. Heh, well given the fact that I did say this was a fairly regular occurrence, what you did makes sense. Good work, you made this already easy mission even easier :3)

The Rev Raptor pilots were so caught up in their glee that they never sensed anything wrong. Two of the Raptors ran ahead of the others, prepared to make the initial attack. As such, those two Raptors were the first to fall. Without seeing the mines or the other traps the raptors triggered the claymores causing the things to spew hundreds of small bulletlike pellets ripped apart the first two raptors legs. The small scale zoids with their light armor couldn't handle the trap and fell, activating even more mines. After all the claymores stopped firing, the first two raptors were riddled with holes, most definitely out of the battle.

Seeing their comrades fall, the other 3 raptors stopped abruptly in confusion and fear. As frantic transmissions went between the remaining raptors, none of them noticed the zoid waiting in position to snipe them, completely oblivious to their surroundings.

The mines going off was the first sign that the battle was about to begin. As the first Rev Raptors fell, Rui got on the shortwave and gave the second sign, "Tora Tora Tora!!" The fire command. With a great burst of sound, the first wave of rocks, large enough to deal final damage the Rev Raptors, flew though the air over the village with a great roar. With their current trajectories, it seemed they would crush the Rev Raptors, unless they turned and ran.

Rui, from her sniper's nest, took aim at the rear flank of the Rev Raptor formation and opened fire, firing wit the goal of preventing their retreat. Between the bullets and the rocks, they only had one viable option, end even then only if they had boosters. They could run forward to where their allies had already fallen, and past them into the pitfall traps, though this course of action was unlikely, because they don't know what other horrors await them within the village. Either way, there wasn't much chance of survival.

The sudden rumbling is what caught the Raptor's attention initially, and the three pilots looked around frantically for its source. It was then that they saw the boulders and immediately turned to run upon seeing them. One of them was too slow however as it was crushed by one of the boulder, taking it out almost instantly. The other two ran away from the village that had become a death trap, but a rain of bullets from the Evoflyer's assault rifles suddenly cut off their path. Looking around they finally spotted the source of the fire and began firing their twin beam cannons at the sniper's nest. Their accuracy was very poor however landing all around the Evoflyer, but it might be possible for them to land a lucky hit.

(OOC: Boulder's flying over the village? You might be pushing it a tad bit here since if anyone messes up, the boulders hit the village... Still, I suppose it's possible to make them so I can't really complain all that much.)

Rui jerked the controls to the side, causing the Evoflyer to dodge a bullet that was aimed right at the cockpit. Looks like the time for sniping is over, time for some straifing runs. Ciel threw off the cloak and leapped into the air, transforming with a sound effect straight from an old TV show into her sky form. Boosting up to crusing speed and the operating ceiling, Rui got close to the target, then nosed down into a steep dive, pulling up when they reached about 900 feet, and open fire, spraying the remaining two Rev Raptors with bullets before boosting back to the service ceiling.

Rui pulled around with a showy aleron roll, and repeated the manuver, making a second run on the remaining Raptor(s); the whole time dodging flying rocks. Before making a third run, the two of them, Zoid and Pilot, pulled high into the sky and turned on their side, making a slow turn to survey the damage done to the targets. They hadn't even found the pitfalls yet.

The raptors continued firing at the now approaching Evoflyer, doing their best to avoid the flying rocks at the same time. Luckily, trebuchets weren't precision weapons so they actually had very little to fear from them apart from a lucky shot. As such they focused on the flyer which had to dodge the very flying rocks that its allies were launching. When the enemy zoid went into a dive right at them the zoids just stood there trying to shoot down the flyer. This proved fruitless however and one of the raptors was taken out in the Evoflyer's first pass. The last raptor gave up trying to shoot down the enemy and simply ran across the desert at its top speed, leaving behind the Evoflyer to make two more runs on an empty position.

Rui banked hard towards the last escaping Rev Raptor, and opened the throttle. Within moments, Ciel passed the speed of sound. Pulling in at the Rev Raptor's Six, Rui opened up the Assault Rifles, firing directly at the Raptor's rear flanks as she quickly caught up to the Raptor.

Just before she caught up to the Raptor, she would nose up and transform back to land mode, useing the boosters to maintain enough momentium to land on the back of the Raptor, then using the feet as anchors, attacking the weak points in the armor with the Zan Smashers.

This was all Ciel at this point. Rui, not used to such sudden accelerations, was putting all her effort into not passing out. This was what she got for not wearing a pressure suit at supersonic speeds.

Completely panicked, the Rev Raptor pilot was running as fast as he could in retreat. He looked back however when he heard a sonic boom and saw the Evoflyer chasing him. Looking forward he quickly jumped to the side and was lucky to dodge the burst of assault rifle fire. He wasn't however, prepared for when the Evoflyer struck him using its Zan Smashers. The force of the smashers combined with the speed of the Evoflyer caused the Rev Raptor to smash hard into the ground, instantly causing a Command System Freeze for the last of the F-Rank zoids.

Rui took the enemy pilot back to the village, bound and gagged. She left him and his cohorts there to be picked up by the police after collecting her bounty. Perhaps I should become a bounty hunter full time. she thought to herself as she and Ciel headed off into the sunset.
