Lockon walked onto the grassy fields, shortly after leaving the office the other boy, now known as Dmitri had to leave and so he left his Phone number with Jason. A little bit odd but whatever, Jason had Fearon stop a few yards away from the still unidentified boy, Jason opened his Comm-link to the other boy. "Hey you know, it would really help if I knew your name. You already know mine is Jason and my Zoids' is Lockon but what about you?" Jason patted his armrest, and Lockon responded by stretching out his back and shanking a bit, he was getting ready for the battle.
Jason wondered if this kids Zoid was anymore Powerful then the Zaber Fang, it was after all a classic so there were chances that it had been outdone by a newer version. "Oh what am I thinking? Me and Lockon have a good bond, that and some good piloting skills and we're golden."[/i] Jason thought looking at the screen waiting for the boy to reply. Jason shut off his mike and camera for a moment, OK Lockon, here's what we've been practicing for, I understand if you want to stop or lose. This is basically an unofficial battle so we'll be OK."
Lockon seemed upset by this, he let out a roar and then had a growl that lasted a few seconds, Jason knew that Lockon was ready to fight. Jason turned on the mike and camera, he looked at the boy before saying, "I'm ready," Jason then gripped the controls waiting to start.

Things were turning out interesting. The battlefield agreed upon, and the time set, they both went their merry ways, to get prepared for their fight. It was strange - this might not be a 'tournament' battle, but it was certainly going to be a battle nonetheless. He had no doubt in his mind he'd have a tough time - after all, the Zaber Fang had guns. He had one, and though it was good at what it did, it was not meant to be used at long distances.
"My name? Oh, I'm sorry... I thought I'd told you. I'm Caleb." He smiled into the com-link, the pretty little LCD of his Gun Tiger illuminating the console he called his cockpit. He stepped on to the battlefield, letting out a little sigh - his position was strategically placed right next to a relatively large hill.
"Don't forget what I said - I'm new at this, okay?" He grinned that goofy grin, and nodded that he was ready - then the com link blinked out. He liked this zoid, but it was chosen out of necessity, not want. He'd be trading it in soon enough - he hoped.
He felt the slight eruption from the earth as the Judge crashed into the earth.
0992
His grip tightened, and in that moment, he was glad the com-link was off. His eyes narrowed, and he was ready.
Ready...?!
The voice echoed out - and all he had to do was wait for 'FIGHT!'

Jason saw the judge fall down to the earth, Jason nodded to Caleb as he told him his name. "Well Caleb, best of luck," Jason then smiled and poop off the Comm. Jason hopped he would be the victor, he would try not to use any advanced moves, (not that he really knew any).
"Ready!?" The Judge said, "Fight!"
Jason grinned and made Lockon move to his right, "Alright Lockon, Lock on to Caleb and fire you Beam Cannon's" Jason flipped a few switches to bring them online. He looked at the screen and saw the target lock on. Jason then fired off a quick volley of three rounds before starting a charge at Caleb. Even if he missed Jason still had six other weapons to try, four of which were guns or some other ranged weapon.
Jason made sure Lockon wasn't moving too fast, hopefully if he missed he could reverse course and try another ranged attack.

FIGHT!
It rang out, and so did he. No time for a melodramatic roar - he tugged the controls to to the left, and immediately triggered his Ion boosters for that necessary burst of initial speed - careful to cut them as soon as he landed. The fire would slam into the hill, and leave him unscathed. That was when the boosters flared up once more, taking the Gun Tiger right around, slipping around the hill.
Backpedaling would do no good - their initial starting range was only 100m, as was traditional. He made certain he was going to get inside those weapons as quickly as possible - and since the other was moving towards him, it would make it a very even circumstance.
He was quite careful to keep himself moving in a non-linear fashion, his touching of the controls being light and delicate, whilst maintaining a firm enough grip to keep it in line. He was less than systematically triggering and cutting his Ion Booster, to fluctuate his speed between max and underpowered, careful to keep the Zoid's head lowered as it moved left and right every few steps.
He only fired off one shot from that AZ105mm Static Magnum - the thing with the power to inflict a temporary stall on the machine it connected with - the first direction-change he made in his non-pattern movements.
With an apparent craggy formation to his right, what was going to happen next?

"Missed, great." Jason thought looking out the screen, he would have to try another approach, Jason noticed a charge flying toward him, he had a few choices. First was fire at it, the next was jump and try to get our it, or he could try to moved out of the way. Jason decided to try and moved out of the way, he turned Lockon to the right and tried to get out of the way of the blast. He failed. The charge hit Lockon's back left leg, it seemed to be stuck right now, this was confirmed by the screen showing a systems overview having that leg in flashing red. It might be stuck for a few minutes or for the rest of the battle, Jason growled and then spoke to Lockon.
"OK Lockon let's try to keep ourselves balanced until you can move you leg again." Jason made Lockon make a full stop, he would stand there until he could figure something out. He decided to try and keep Caleb distracted, he turned on the rest of his weapons and fired short rounds of all of them. He fired another short volley from the Duel AZ30mm Beam Cannons followed by a short volley from his AZ10mm Machine gun, he then fired one shot from his 3-shot missile pod. Jason then fired a few rounds from his Quad AZ20mm Beam Cannons.
Hopefully with all of the dust, debris, and damage these shots could make/do Caleb would be distracted long enough for the leg to come online again.
(OOC: How long the leg be offline? One Post or two post? Or longer? And should they be your and my posts? Or just your posts?)

[ only a round - a full turn of me then you at MAX, would be my guess. That's roughly 10 seconds, as far as I'm concerned. I don't see it as a post count. In the games, it's a freeze until you use an item. xD But since there are no 'items', I'd just say it takes a few seconds to get the system back online.]
It was more or less amusement, now, that touched his face. An attempt to turn to the right had left his back leg in turmoil. That, of course, being not a problem for this one - the other pilot tried for balance, while he simply continued on his course. As Jason had turned right, all of his fire would be in that direction - and even if he'd tried to turn left to compensate for the attempt to move, it would be a slow methodical turn.
That, of course, left the old Zaber Fang completely open for a side attack - which was precisely what the boy intended to give him. As a majority of the ground had been covered in the last few seconds, it occured to him that now, it was a close range game - his Ion boosters flared to life in a true charge - he let loose another Magnum shot directly at the Fang's left side, followed with a very direct pounce - Hi-frequency claws meant to lunge into the Fang's temporarily gimped side.
At this range, of course, firing more weapons would be more or less futile; accuracy was gone, and even his own Magnum would be more or less a stupid move at such a close range.
Teeth and claws were what he was good at, and with the advantage of attacking the weakened side, there was hardly a second thought. "You're thinking too much. If you'd moved on instinct, you would have been fine." He called, over the speaker.

Multiple thoughts passed through Jason's mind, he could really do anything. The leg was slowly starting to come back online, but that was still a minute or so off, Jason couldn't do much for defense at the moment. He didn't have boosters so he couldn't try and push himself out of the way so he was pretty much doomed. "Maybe I can drop down.... no that won't work the leg is locked into position." Jason thought, he then heard Caleb's voice come in on the comm. "Lockon, brace for impact!" Jason said holding onto the armrests seeing the radar screen pop up and show how close Caleb was.
Lucky for Jason the Magnum missed him, Jason sighed in relief but then he remembered Caleb. Caleb's Zoid hit Lockon's side knocking his over, Lock rolled and ended up on his belley again, Lockon seemed to sigh after that. "Don't worry Lockon we'll get him." On the screen the leg started to turn green showing it was getting power again.
Jason had Lockon stand up, he had to get a good blow in on Caleb's Zoid, "maybe the claws...." Jason thought looking at Caleb,

It wasn't as though he'd stopped, as the claws dug in to the opposing Zoid. In fact, it was quite the opposite - he kept going, and since he'd made the connection, there was no doubt a nice hunk of damage there. Combined with the fact that he was going 270 km/h, there was really not a chance that there wasn't some form of exposed wiring or at least decent damage.
His speed did not decrease - he fired the Ion boosters, and continued his all but ruthless assault at the side of the Zaber. Considering, what was more, that he was trying to stand as the Gun Tiger was continuing to move at such a high speed - claws bared... He wanted to gut the Fang.
"Call it quits before I damage the core and end your Zoid." He called, his voice sounding hurt and sympathetic - he didn't want to kill the Fang completely... that would just be wrong.

Jason saw the torso area of the screen light up red, he could hear Lockon groaning in responsive to the Gun Tiger on him. Jason heard Caleb speak over the Comm, Jason sighed he might have to quick. He didn't want to but he might have to, he didn't want to lose Lockon, it was all that remained of his grandfather. Jason turned on the Comm, "OK I-" Suddenly Jason got an idea, the two tail mounted AZ20 Beam Cannon's. He shut off the Comm system and spoke to Lockon.
"Lockon think you can move you tail?" Lockon growled almost as if to say yes, if this didn't get Caleb off of him he would have to forfeit, for Lockon's sake."OK Lockon move your tail now!" Lockon moved his tail up and Jason pressed a button firing both of the tail mounted cannon's, he fired five shots per cannon's, hopefully knocking Caleb off, if not he would be unable todo anything, anymore damage and Lockon would most likely be unable to move afterwards.

The only problem with firing the tail, was that the tail fired backwards. Caleb wasn't on top of anyone, nor behind him - merely digging into the side. So, as the tail fired into the abyss, Caleb sighed and pushed deeper, this time including his fangs in the mix. Even if the tail could move left and right, at max it would be at 180 degrees - beyond that it would be metal on hip casing - and the rockets would be hitting them, instead.
The attack seemed like a distraction, and for a moment, Caleb thought of disengaging. However, the tactician in him told him that such a blatant distraction was not a distraction at all - it was meant to scare him off. So, instead, he kept his ion boosters thrusting, so that he could put additional pressure on the circuitry and, if Jason didn't call off the match, the core.
Caleb was kind - but he was not going to stop on account of anything so futile as friendship or the kindness of strangers. He would hurt him. He would kill his Zoid if it came to that. He would win because he had to.

Jason sighed, he couldn't do anything now Lockon was starting to lose power. Jason opened the comm, "OK Caleb, I-I give OK stop the attack." Jason sighed and looked at the screen.
The judge had picked up on the transmission and ended the fight. "Jason has forfeited, Caleb is the victor!"
Jason sighed again, he didn't want to give up but he had no choice. "Sorry Lockon, I should have called it off earlier...." Lockon whimpered, he was either trying to say how much pain he was in, or he was trying to comfort Jason. But Jason didn't really want to be comforted, he hadn't thought out a good strategy and therefore lost the battle and got his Zoid damaged.

He was a thief. He was ruthless when he needed to be. He was not, however, ruthless unnecessarily. At the sound of the buzzer, the Boosters died, and the Gun Tiger laid off the pressure. As gentle as a zoid with it's claws and teeth embedded in its enemy could, he removed himself. The Com-Link would be re-opened.
"Don't worry, Jason. You did good." He said, that friendly smile returning to his face, now that all of the seriousness was over. He had no desire to make any real enemies - nor did he wish to make Jason feel bad. All in all, it had been a relatively good fight, even if his Gun Tiger was coming away from this unscathed.
"We'll be friends, I think." He added, offering a hand to him, even if it was just through a com-link.

Once the Gun Tiger was off Lockon Jason checked the power reading's, there seemed to be enough power to get him up and back to town. Jason slowly made Lockon get up, the metal of Lockon groaned as he slowly got up. Jason looked at the Comm and nodded into it, "Yeah I'm sure we'll be friends," Jason also showed his hand, then he disengaged the roof and opened it to look at Caleb head on. It was a little odd but Jason wanted to conserve power so he just left the audio on.
"Nice match though, as soon as that shot hit me I was done for. If it had missed we might still be fighting right now." Jason said grinning a friendly grin, he knew Lockon wanted to rest but it would have to wait until he could get him to a garage.
