There was a steady, soft mechanical whirring as the green lion-like Zoid padded onto the field. The pilot, a young woman with dirty blonde hair, studied her surroundings. There were buildings, old and decaying, everywhere, excellent for cover. This would be a very interesting place to fight. However, it seemed her opponent had not yet arrived. She still had some time to wait.
The Saberlion came to a halt. After crouching down, the cockpit opened and Kai hopped out. Stepping lightly to the ground, she went back to surveying the area. Even if not for the upcoming match, she may have still considered visiting such a place. Satisfied with her surroundings, she sat under the Saberlion, leaning her back against it's leg.
"Well...this should be fun."

At the edge of the arena, a blue Hover Cargo pulled up, starting to come to a slow halt just outside the designated battlefield. From the top bridge, he could barely make out the saberlion on the far side of the arena. Chuckling, Pat set the Hover Cargo in park, leaving the bridge and heading to the hangar. The man climbed up into the cockpit of the command wolf, slowly powering the systems up and bringing it to boot. Slowly, the ramp lifted the wolf up to the top deck of the hovercargo, opening the hatch on top. Then, it launched!
DogTrot was not normally the stealthiest of fighters, but this enemy zoid was a close-ranger, which would be hard to fight if he allowed it to get in. He decided to play it safe, and stay hidden for a bit. The wolf picked a high craig, with the sun at its back, it should be the perfect sniping spot for a while. He pointed the gun towards the saberlion in the distance, before opening a comm link. Friendly, he called out through to the other zoid's speakers. "Ready when you are, Fox."
As he spoke, the judge capsule could be seen coming in through the atmosphere. The capsule opened slowly, revealing the pristine white judge, glancing around. "This area is now a designated battle zone. The area within an eight mile radius is now off limits. Area scanned... Battlefield secure. Fox versus DogTrot. Battle mode 0982. Ready... Fight!"

Kai had climbed back into the Saberlion's cockpit just in time to hear the voice in the speakers. Ready when she was? She was debating on a response when she caught sight of the judge capsule. Closing the cockpit and strapping herself in, she pulled her Zoid into a ready position. At the word 'Fight', she was off.
I have no idea where this guy is...best to keep moving until I find him... She thought, scanning the area in hopes of finding another Zoid. Nothing. He was out of range. Staying close to the buildings, she weaved about, still searching for her opponent.
"Oh where oh where can you be~" She cooed through the comm link, a taunting tone to her voice.

Pat grinned, listening to the little coo through the comm systems. He positioned his wolf in a spot where the body was hidden by a wall, and his gun pointed out of the ruins of what used to be a large doorway. He tracked the saberlion off in the distance, his sights following the blue close range zoid carefully. It was still pretty far away, but he was going to play this match cautiously and try not to let it get close. His long range cannon was no sniper, but it had power to back up its relative inaccuracy. It could fire fast in quick succession, but overheat.
He started firing towards the lion, each time it became visible through the debris. His shots were very fast in succession, but only came in bursts of five or so to prevent his gun from overheating. He made sure to only fire off these bursts every once in a while, when the saberlion was not looking and couldn't see the muzzle flash. In addition, the pause between bursts gave him opportunity to back away and find a new location, once the saberlion started getting closer. He was eager to see what the other Zoid warrior would do.

The judge suddenly let out a blaring sound.
"Battle over, Battle over. Challenger Kai Talakki's zoid has suffered a system freeze - thus making it unable to battle. The winner is... Dogtrot!"
The judge then proceeded to send Dogtrot 75 Team points for his victory, along with a boost in his warrior rating by 25 'posts'. The ZBC alreadys liked odd acronyms.
The capsule then fired up its rockets, making its way back to the shuttle in space.
