Finally, after about seven to ten minutes of non-stop running, Marcus had finally managed to get his rogue Liger Zero, Ex-Vee, to drag itself back to the human's run down apartment complex/makeshift Zoid hangar. Sure, it wasn't the most luxurious of places to keep a Zoid, but it was large enough to fit the Liger Zero in there perfectly, without so much as making another dent on its already trashed body. Before Marcus could cuss out his Zoid, the familiar hum of the Power Core began to quickly fade away until it was totally silenced; Ex-Vee's energy had finally been spent.
Shrugging, he figured it was finally time the thing calmed down, for now he can get to work removing the rust and any nasty elements that had worn away the massive mech over the years. Ferociously kicking the cockpit hatch open, (Ex-Vee wouldn't feel it, why should Marcus care?), he clambored out until he reached the third-story metal grating that lay hanging over right next to the Zoid's head. Walking over towards his apartment door, he had stopped suddenly, looking back at the Liger Zero he, as well as with Max's help, had worked so hard to get.
Nodding to himself, as well as to Max, for a job well done, he yawned slightly as he headed inside his apartment; looking around at the surprisingly neat complex that lay inside. It had all of the basic rooms and furnishings he needed to live comfortably inside of Romeo City. Hell, it looked like a really decent, four-star hotel, minus the glitz and glamor. Slumping back into his pristine, leather sofa, he clicked the remote towards his monitor, and wondered what sort of crappy programs they had on today.

<One Hour Later>
With a loud snort as he finally came back to his senses, Marcus had shaken his head and looked around to clarify where he was right now. He was still in his apartment, right in front of the television, which was now displaying a commercial; an advertisement that commanded the viewers to tune in and continue to watch the awe-inspiring Zoid battles that would take place.
He had fallen asleep. How long did he sleep, though? Checking the digital clock next to his sofa, he realized it was only about three in the afternoon. He had plenty of time to fix up or replace the Power Core to Ex-Vee. He figured he'd have himself some instant ramen, if not, for a quick fix on food.
Shuffling towards the kitchen that lay near the living room of his apartment, he snatched a cup of the aformentioned noodles from the cupboard, added a bit of hot, tap water, and placed it in the microwave for two minutes, waiting for his food to get done cooking. During this time, he took the liberty to reflect on the events that had recently happened to him the past few days. They were strange, to say the least, considering he got fried within his old Rev Raptor and had run away from wild Helcats inside of a deteriorated Liger Zero.
Sighing out loud, accepting the fact that it was probably just coincidence, he pulled his ramen out of the microwave as the timer blared loudly, sitting himself back down on the sofa and busting out a silver fork; slurping away at his meal. Watching television and eating microwaved foods was probably the only way Marcus survived these days; he had yet to establish a shop in where he could earn money, and finding it simply laying around on the ground was lucky enough for him. As last resorts, he was often forced to sell the items in his house in order to make a quick buck.
Man, if it weren't for his financial troubles, he'd be living in the lap of luxury!
...There was a way, though.
Letting loose a large hum of deep thought, he chewed on the tines of his fork as he took into consideration that Zoids had existed for a reason. About fifty or so years ago, (he wasn't very good with history, so even he doesn't know when it had happened), a massive war between the former Helic Republic and Guylos Empire tore the lands to shreds; Zoids and soldiers waging battle after countless battle against each other. Blood was shed, but it was necessary -- if people were to survive, they had to kill.
Nowadays, Zoids were only used for entertainment purposes as the Empire and the Republic had finally merged to create a stabilized and controlled form of government. The large mechs were now used as gladiatorial tools now, mainly used and developed for round the clock battles that everyone could spectate on, or even join -- if they had the money, the Zoids, and the guts to do that. But those who had so could probably make a small fortune off of battles alone -- enough to not only pimp out their own Zoids, but to make it so that they never lived hungry again!
Marcus had two of those requirements. However, he was lacking in the cash department, feeling around his pockets for at least a single coin. Sighing depressively, he had also considered the Liger Zero that now lay in his makeshift hangar; thinking it was probably falling into a pile of scrap metal now. Okay, so he only had the guts now. And considering his last situation, the one that almost got him killed, even that vanished into thin air without a trace.
Maybe Zoid piloting wasn't the thing for him...
"Ngh. This blows chunks..." Marcus hissed as he gobbled down the rest of his noodles, continuing to watch in jealousy the pilots of about maybe ten, or even twenty to thirty years of experience, make the ensuing battles look so easy. Throwing the empty cup into the trash bin sitting at the opposite end of the sofa and watching it land smoothly in, he sighed as he lay on his side now, hoping that some stroke of inspiration would allow him to muster up the courage to try out Zoid battling -- or something, at least.

<Awaken, two hours>
Once again, Marcus had found himself snoozing away the rest of the afternoon on his couch, just wondering why he would fall asleep during television. Concluding that he was either narcoleptic or simply just tired, he got up and stretched like a dog who had layed down for too long before standing up and stretching once more.
Remembering he had a Zoid to fix, he would attempt to go back towards the hangar he had stowed his Liger Zero within, wondering just where to start. Well, first thing's first, it was rusty beyond comprehension. Second, armor and weapons were needed to enhance Ex-Vee's fighting potential, if not, to make him physically presentable. Third: a new Power Core, as the Zoid's previous one had now simply died out after being left to rot and decay over the years it had spent in the ruins.
The only problem was that he had no money whatsoever to buy armor, weapons, or a new Power Core. And the longer he stayed in his house, just thinking about it, the more antsy he had gotten -- most likely because his contemplation on becoming a Zoid Fighter was now itching his brain with agressive tenacity. Even if he didn't decide to pilot Zoids for a living, he couldn't just let Ex-Vee sit in his hangar, collecting more dust and suffering the same fate it had once done. Besides, knowing his skills in mechanics, he could probably take up an odd job or two, if not, just to earn a quick buck.
"Sorry, Ex-Vee, but I'm goin' city-roaming. Be right back, ya' hear?" he would call out towards the hangar door as if his Zoid would respond with a faithful growl, awaiting his master's return. Simply walking out of his apartment door and locking it behind him, he shifted himself outside towards the bustling districts of Romeo City; watching the sights, sounds, and lights that would flicker on and off within the city that would never sleep.
