Diplos's engines roared as it flew the air, scanning the area of the rendezvous location. On edge about this mission, he had no idea what there was to expect. His only intention at this point was to finish the mission cleanly and return back home....return to Romeo City to see him once more.
"Tch...this mission. I already don't like the smell of it." The desert was such a barren and unforgivable place, it gave off the aura of death and just pure emptiness. Even when there were plenty of Whale Kings and Pteras flying to and from Romeo City, it just seemed that he was all alone in that lonely place. How could it be that people survive way out in the middle of nowhere? Well, to be honest, that was an easy question to answer. They survive off of their skill and ingenuity, not to mention their hard work, that was a simple answer indeed.
Flashing in the distance, the Diplos picked up the shining of a bright light or a reflective surface like that of a mirror. Morse code, telling him to land by the nearby village in order to meet up with his client. Would this be a man or a woman? Would his client be nice or ruthless? What exactly was the mission? All these questions were the unknown, things that were about to be made clear, that is if he wanted to get paid.

Dmitri's stern eyes were met with those of man whose eyes were equally as stern. They had the same empty look in their eyes, as if they were both searching for more than what was already before them. The skies were the limits, yet neither one was going to be testing the boundaries of their limitations. That was Dmitri in a nutshell, unable to move forward, continuing the same life that he had led for years. Why couldn't he progress in life? Living alone meant nothing... fighting alone with no real partners... what was it all for? Peace, justice, a way to earn money? That was all nothing more than cover for the real issue. To admit it would be admitting that what he did was for nothing and Dmitri would never do such a thing. To face a mirror of himself was....indeed difficult yet somehow he stomached through it.
"Enigma...I would've guessed that you were taller.."
Dmitri began to take a step toward the door, he had no time for any such annoyances or frivolous chatter. He was here to do a job and he wanted to know the exact mission that he was being hired for.
"I'm sorry don't." Dmitri stopped in his tracks and began to listen to the man's story, as heart wrenching as it was, the boy didn't even show any emotion as the words reached his ears.
"So you're daughter was taken captive by bandits. And they want you to pay them back the money that you owe them by winning a tournament? And you need me to enter because you've been injured in the last zoid tournament you were in? I understand completely...I shall get on it, immediately. Even if I lose, I will still pay for your daughter to get freed." Dmitri left, the eyes of the man burning into his back.
The man meant business. He wanted his daughter back, he wanted his princess back into his life. She was everything to him, was that parental love? Dmitri thought back on his own childhood, back when he was with his family, was that how it had been?

A tournament. Could he ever survive such a thing and make off with enough money to get the girl back? As it was looking, he didn't have enough money at the moment to pay of the man's debt and get the girl back with his own money. But why would he hire Dmitri if he didn't have money, yet he paid Dmitri, why not save the money to buy his daughter back? Something was fishy, but one thing was clear, there really was a daughter who had been taken from him. Right now, his only goal was to enter the tournament and win. Win, win, win.
Dmitri looked over at the passing clouds, the white pillows of water vapor being torn apart by the current of air flowing around the Diplos. Something hit him and hit him hard, would the Diplos be enough to win the tournament? Diplos wasn't a high performance aerial zoid and its rail guns were its only armaments, things were not looking in Dmitri's favor at the moment.
Getting a new zoid was...rather expensive, impossible even. But even if he could get the Diplos's performance up, there would be no telling how it would perform against tournament grade zoids. This was going to be a matter that he'd have to settle back in Romeo City.
