The stadium was about half filled for the day's events, only being one of the many rounds to come. The audience had been milling around for a while now, some for about half an hour. Concessions were being sold, and cameras were being set up by the ZBC (Zi Broadcast Corporation). In a few minutes, though, the audience's attention focused on the massive field in front of them, and they started to quiet down. The zoids had arrived! The doors to the stadium's sides opened up, and the various contestants started to file in one after another, their zoids properly stripped for the contest. Five circular arenas were flat against the ground around the field, level with the floor. After both contestants would arrive and climb into it, it would rise up into the air, and the match would begin!
he muttered to himself, awaiting the arrival of his opponent. He could feel his excitement resonating with that of his Houndsoldier, moving it towards the center of the battlefield. At least his opponent couldn't launch a surprise attack from behind a door. [/ul] [/ul]

The door across the field, opposite the other contestant opened up. Slowly revealing the Zoids legs. Then the neck and finally the hunched head of a Command Wolf. The light from the open sky-light shone on the Command Wolf's white paint job as it made it's way out of the dark room and into the bright light of the arena. Jager's eyes adjusted to the sudden change in light. He looked around. The entire stadium was full! Cheers erupted from the crowd as he entered the arena. They knew it was about to begin.
The Command Wolf stepped onto the round arena and waited until it suddenly jutted upward, sending the two contestants 10 stories up. It stopped. The Command Wolf stood still, calm and collected like it's pilot. Jager kept his eyes on the Houndsoldier. The judge appeared in a giant hologram atop the arena.
"Contestant, Max VS. contestant, Jager. Battle mode 0240....FIGHT!" The judges arms crossed. The loud cheering from the crowd nearly deafened the officials in their high up throne-like booth. The Command Wolf slowly turned right and began walking around the edge of the arena, keeping it's head focused on the Houndsoldier.
"Your move." Jager muttered to himself, waiting to see what his opponent would do.

jeered Max upon seeing that his opponent piloted a Command Wolf. He saw plenty of Command Wolfes in his time, but he never tired at seeing the various versions, as most tended to customize theirs rather well. He would smirk, working the controls so that the Houndsoldier would press a paw forward while tilting its head down a bit, as if it were predatory. "Jager? Cool name." spoke Max to himself, grinning in his cockpit. He would make his Houndsoldier push forward, stopping shortly before the Command Wolf then proceeding to swing a paw down at the head of the wolf zoid. It was a simple maneuver, but it was only used to see how the opponent reacted. [/ul][/ul]

Jager continued to maneuver his Command Wolf slowly along the edge of the ring. Even as the Houndsoldier ran at the Command Wolf he paced slowly. When the Houndsoldier stopped in front of him teh Command Wolf lurched forward with a series of quick steps. The Houndsoldiers paw hit nothing but air as the Command Wolf walked in a path to the middle of the arena from the edge of it where the Houndsoldier now stood. Jager ralized if this pilot had any experience his move would've been simply to see how he would react. If it was a chump Jager would be very disappointed with his strategy.
"You better have a good strategy to take me out. Otherwise, your in for a tough battle." Jager spoke under his breath to himself. His Command Wolf growled in acknowledgement to it's master's comment. It seemed he didn't think much of it's K-9 opponent.
"I know, boy. But don't let your guard down. We don't know anythign about this pilot. He could just be testing us." the Command Wolf walked slowly toward teh center of the arena, ready for it's master's command.

muttered Max to himself, smirking as he made the Houndsoldier follow the Command Wolf's body as it moved away. He would sigh a bit, not liking this. He himself preferred reckless combat, but it was apparent his opponent was tactical. He himself would have to adjust before attacking. The Houndsoldier would begin to encircle the arena, eying the Command Wolf once it reached the center of the arena. Max would make the Houndsoldier pick up speed as it encircled the arena, until he was sure the Command Wolf couldn't keep up. Once he reached the blind spot of the Command Wolf, he would break off from the trail and charge forward, claws extended to strike. Man did he wish he could use his weapons. [/ul][/ul]

The Command Wolf followed the Houndsoldier with it's gaze as it did a round-about of the arena. It was picking up speed as it circled the Command Wolf. It swirved and headed straight for Jager. It was fast. It's need to circle the arena for speed only proved it had weak acceleration though. And Speed was of no use when you were headed straight for the opponent. That kind of reckless behaviour can only hinder a pilot. Only in rare occasions does it help.
The Command Wolf lurched it's body forward, it's paws still on the ground. Two legs stepped back and the forwad paws pressed against the groundearth. As the Houndsoldier slowed down, the Command Wolf pressed against the ground with it's hind legs and forward legs, jumping back as the Houndsoldier came to a stop. As the K-9's claws swung down the Command Wolf lunged forward striking with it's fangs aimed at the neck of the dog as the claws of the houndsoldier finished it's claw at the air.

Max pondered to himself. His opponent kept watching his movements just as he had done before. He knew the claw strike wouldn't be successful if he kept at that rate, judging by the way the pilot had reacted before. As he drew close, he indeed maintained the idea to move the Houndsoldier's paw. Once he was close enough, he would raise the paw. Though the lifting of the paw was a feint, for the paw would swiftly return to the ground before the paw even reached high enough to successfully strike. The Houndsoldier would also push its head forward, though instead of a bite it was a headbutt aimed at the incoming Command Wolf's head. "This might be painful." he muttered to himself. The crowd let out a sudden and loud burst of cheers and screams at seeing the headbutt connect with the Command Wolf's head. Popcorn and drinks flew all over teh place as the spectators stood, flailing their arms in the air. This fight was getting exciting really fast. The seated spectators stared in suspense to see what would happen next.
The sudden headbutt caught the Command Wolf off-guard and sent his body spinning to the left, it's head leading the spinnign body. As the Command Wolf spun 180 degrees it kicked it's hind legs. The paws of the leg rocketed toward the Houndsoldiers face. After the strike, Jager gripped the controls and moved the Command Wolf around the Houndsoldier's left side. A quick bite attempt at the Houndsoldier's body by the Command Wolf fueled the adrenaline in the spectators' bodies. The seated gripped their seat handles and breathed in heavily. The action in these Zoid battles were unrivaled!
The calm and swift movements of the Command Wolf reflected Jager's calm and collected self behind the controls. Split-second planning occured with every attack.

sounded Max, feeling the impact of the headbutt in his cockpit. He couldn't help but crack a smile though, glad his attack connected. Seeing his opponent's legs comming toward the head of his own Zoid, he would make the Houndsoldier sit back like an actual dog. It's head was arched back like a dog sitting up straight to avoid the legs striking the head, but they would manage to slash across the chest of the zoid, damaging it's triple barreled gun. Not that it mattered, since the weapon was prohibited in the battle. After escaping the full brunt of the leg's strike, the Houndsoldier would move forward from its sitting position as quick as it could. Max understood the fact that he had to attack while the Zoid was still spinning. With thrusters disabled in the tournament, surely it couldn't avoid an attack during the spin. With its head already being extended out, Max would make the Houndsoldier extend its head forward in an attempt to bite the Command Wolf before it finished spinning. [/ul][/ul]

"Warning! Warning! Abnormal adverse conditions detected in compartment of the Command Wolf. No pilot activity detected. The battle has been terminated."
The platform started to lower down again, while fire and emergency trucks sped over towards the Command Wolf's side, just in case there really was a problem. As the platform came down, Max's Houndsoldier received a bleep on the comm panel, with some information being transferred to his zoid gear. He had won the battle by default, and the one win was put towards his tournament record.
OOC: Battle goes to Max by default, 3-day no post rule in affect.
