The sound of screaming villagers was all that could be heard over roaring flames. The sun was setting giving the flames a strangely beautiful backdrop. The only thing about the magnificent scene was that it inspired fear instead of joy like most sunsets do. A Dark Spiner dominated the burning village its head scanning the area. Its jamming blade was activate. All enemy communications would be disabled when the enemy got close enough, which was about an eight mile radius. Their sensory systems and targeting systems as well would be disabled. This zoid was meant to force its opponents into close range battles and to hold its own until its reinforcements arrived. This was a scout and it was aware of its surroundings. Stealth would be hard to manage.

“Alright, let’s move! Shadow, Sakashi, wait for our signal for support! Amaya, engage with visual targeting. It won’t stay bright outside from long! Let’s knock him out before his friends join up!” The Dark Horn lumbered forward as it entered the jamming area. Reven’s targeting computer went blank, so he simply switched from relying on it to simple visual targeting. He would need his eyes for this, and his black machine lumbered forward. With the Dark Spiner in the middle of the village, he knew where it would be. He also knew that the Spiner was mostly built for medium and close range combat. Which was ironically what his Dark Horn was built for as well. The Dark Horn was in a full gallop as it moved in on the village. Reven brought up his sights, and basically was aiming like an infantryman with his rifle. He didn’t need to lock onto the target…just swarm it with shells. His missiles would be useless in these conditions, but his hybrid gatling, shock cannon, 80mm double anti-air beam cannon would still prove to be excellent in combat. As he moved in, Reven aimed with the crosshairs. While his accuracy would of course be lower, he still could still just blaze away.
(Our Amaya Posts next. Shadow, Sakashi, unless you see us signal you, don't bother.)

The Geno Saurer, although not as fast as the Dark Horn right now, was able to keep a good pace, not too far behind it. Inside the cockpit, Amaya remained silent, simply flashing an acknowledgement light to Reven as they continued forward. This Dark Spiner....it was preventing more help from coming to the people of the village. The Backdraft group attacking this village...as far as she could tell, it was an unprovoked attack, simply for the sake of doing it. She didn't tolerate that.
When they entered the jamming area, she gripped the controls tightly and shut down the targeting computer so it wouldn't distract her with its messages. She knew it wasn't working, this was a Dark Spiner. They were a scout model and one of their key features was being able to jam enemy communications as well as radars and other assistants. Switching the system to visual targetting, she stopped shortly afterwards, zooming in the camera so she could get a better view of the target. The twin pulse laser rifles on the back of the Geno Saurer took aim at the Dark Spiner, centering the crosshair on it before pulling the trigger and letting loose two volleys, the four energy shots streaming towards the enemy zoid.

The Dark Spiner looked up quickly aware of the prescience of enemy zoids. The Dark Spiner turned to look at Reven's zoid and then Amaya's. The zoid jumped to the side landing on a building eventually causing it to collapse, but not before it jumped off of it landing on the ground out of range of the Dark Horn's and Geno Saurer's attack. The zoid pilot wasn't surprised or in anyway impressed by the attacks sent at him. The Dark Spiner's two Double Barrelled Cannon revealed themselves and without a second's thought where fired. Two rounds from each meaning four rounds in total which meant that eight shots ahd been fired. Each aimed at the Dark Horn.

Reven watched as Amaya’s fire streaked past his zoid and aimed at the enemy unit. He wasn’t surprised to see it dodge the fire. It had plenty of warning about them approaching. He would have wanted to have Shadow flank this thing, but he also wanted an ace in the hole as well.
He figured it would dodge their opening attacks with ease, he’d have to close the distance then. His Dark Horn was going full bore when Reven switched his controls. He switched the left control stick to controlling his zoid, and had the right set up to aim the main turret. When he saw the Dark Spiner turn towards him after it avoided Amaya’s barrage, he got ready to shift direction. When its barrels flashed, Reven managed to pull off one of the clumsiest dodges he had ever done. He simply changed direction enough for him to bulldoze his way through a collapsed building and come out the other side. Two of the shells did strike the Dark Horn…right on its heavily armored head. Reven thought he had heard a large ‘thud’. But, when he popped out the other side, still going at top speed, the turret on the back of the Dark Horn swung around, and the hybrid Vulcan cannon, along with the beam launcher and shock cannon opened up, spraying shells and beams, aimed at the middle of the Dark Spiner. He wasn’t aiming for anywhere in particular on the zoid, considering the lack of a targeting computer, so he was aiming at the biggest thing he could…the main body.

If only things were that easy. Then again, if things WERE that easy, none of this would be happening and they could continue on with their lives. And if things were that easy, then anyone could take out the Backdraft group and the world would be at peace. Amaya simply kept her glare, and camera, focused on the Dark Spiner as it dodged out of the way of the attack. If it weren't for her obligation to protect the city, not to mention if she had her main gun working, she would happily just blast it with the Charged Particle Cannon and end this.
Of course, that wasn't the case. Taking a few steps forward, she adjusted her view so she could see the Dark Spiner again and centered it in her crosshair. She had the same idea as her partner. Easiest target is the main body. The pilot would also live, despite whatever crimes they committed. After all, they need to live to repent. Pulling the trigger once, she adjusted the view on her camera slightly to the right of the main body and pulled the trigger a second time, then adjusting to the left of it and pulling the trigger a third time. Six high-powered energy rounds flew through the air, one pair centered on it, the other two preventing it from moving left or right without getting hit.

The Dark Spiner made no attempt to move. It just stared them down as the large jamming device on its back began to glow, only the tips though. A strange force field engulfed the front of the zoid. It cracked like electricity and had a purple tint to it that was barely noticeable as it faded in and out of sight. The oncoming attacks seemed to stop right before the shield and instead of penetrating the force filled were deflected. The shots fired skidded across the shield shooting diagonally away from the Dark Spiner and crashing into buildings destroying them. The Dark Spiner roared and ran forward firing from its two Double Barrelled Cannons. The result was four shots sent at the Dark Horn and Four at the GenoSaurer.
The Dark Spiner closed the distance between itself and the Dark Horn before it jumped onto it attempting to dig its back claws into the back of the Dark Horn's neck. Its front claws would claw at the main weaponry trying to destroy them.

BINGO! Reven cheered even through his weapons fire was deflected away from the Dark Spiner. The thing leapt in close…exactly what Reven wanted it to do. Avoiding the machine’s attempt to board him, he had the left frontal leg of the Dark Spiner dig into the ground, hard. The other legs lessened their traction, and the dug in limb acted like a pivot, swinging the entire zoid around in a heart beat. The servos in the leg squealed in protest at the sudden strain, but Reven had acomplised what he had set out to do. He was facing the Dark Spiner Head On…at point blank range. Rather than start firing his arsenal, the Dark Horn opened its mouth…and sprayed it’s concentrated Acid Sprayer directly at the Dark Spiner. Reven figured at this range, he didn’t need to worry about accuracy. To follow up, he held down the trigger…and fired one of his missiles straight up into the air. The missile rocketed away from the village, acting in many ways like a signal flare…
((Amaya, just so you aware, directly jumping onto my zoid without giving me a chance to dodge at all can be considered godmodding. Thus, I am dodging your attack, and setting up one of my own...))

Great, once more, it didn't work. Long range fire was useless against the Dark Spiner, so despite her better judgement, she had to go close range this time. It would put the Geno Saurer at risk, but it would be impossible for her to do any damage like this. Its field would simply block further attempts at long range combat. Of course, thanks to its current condition, the matter was actually getting close. She didn't have its boosters, so she'd have to walk.
First though, she had to decide what strategy she'd use. As she began thinking, she had the Geno Saurer easily side step out of the way of the rounds fired at her. Because of how far away she was, she had plenty of time to dodge the attacks. Beginning to move towards the Dark Spiner, she took her time and weaved between buildings, never staying in the same general location for long. There was a good distance between the two. She had time to plan.

The Dark Spiner landed near the zoid and stepped back now that they where face to face. The pilot knew being that close to a Dark Horn wasn't a good idea. In hopes of knocking the zoid off balance the Dark Spiner turned and attempted to smash the Dark Horn's head with its tail to knock it off balance. Instead it resulted in blocking the acid losing the tip of the tail and damaging a little more of the tail. The Dark Spiner ran forwards putting distance between the two and turned quickly. Its machine guns locked onto the Dark Horn it fired round after round aiming at the legs and cockpit. The Dark Spiner glared at the Dark Horn ready for an attack, but it was waiting for an attack from the GenoSaurer, what was left of its tail ready to counter. Unlike the other zoids it still had its sensory systems and it may not have been as fast a Genosaurer, but it was ready.
The tail wasn't damaged enough to hinder balance, but it was weakened. The pilot was banking on reflexes and the fact this battle would be in a tighter area then most zoid battles.

As he saw the missile lift into the air, Shadow smirked from the cockpit of his Lightning Saix. It was time for him to help his teammates. He quickly started running toward the flare's launch position, using his Saix's natural stealthy running to remain undetected. As he entered the village he came in from the opposite side of Amaya and Reven. The Dark Spiner seemed to be focused on them. He quickly entered his "Apathy State" and charged in toward the Spiner as quickly as he could, the sounds of the burning village covering the sound of his running. As he neared his opponent, his Zoid's claws began to glow with yellow light.
Approaching from the Spiner's rear right he charged in at full speed as he said quietly his transmissions closed, "Strike Laser Claw!" The Saix leapt towards the enemy zoid its 4 paws surging with yellow energy as it swung its claws at the Dark Spiner's black fins that controlled its jamming with its right paw, the passing over the area where half its tail remained so that it could land on the other side and continue running after its hit and run attack.

[Enter]
Sakashi had a determined look on her face as her Buster Eagle approached the enemy. The missile that Reven had sent out worked well as a signal flare and had alerted her almost instantly that it was time to attack. She watched the area closely preparing to attack with her Eagle's cannons. As she approached her opponent from the skies behind Reven, she saw her brother's Saix approaching from the other side. Seeing this, she flew lower, hoping to get the Spiner's attention to shift to her and distract it from the true threat.
She then saw her brother's zoid begin powering up its Strike Laser Claws, and watched as it approached the enemy zoid from its rear right. Seeing his trajectory, Sakashi took careful aim with the Buster Eagle's Buster Cannons and fired a careful shot from both barrels that impacted the ground in front of and to the right of the Dark Spiner shortly before her brother leapt, wanting to keep the attention of its enemy focused on her, and run no risk of hitting her brother.

His Dark Horn couldn’t move that fast anymore, with his front leg being damaged as it was. But he started backing up as the machineguns on the Spiner started firing. Keeping his good leg tucked behind the enormous head of the Dark Horn, Reven backed up, as his head started to sound like a demented woodpecker going nuts. With the height difference between the Dark Spiner and Dark Horn, his head was wide enough to cover his limbs from the attack. His damaged leg dragged in the dirt. Swinging his turret around on the Dark Spiner, Reven aimed his missile launcher at the ground in front of the Dark Spiner and fired a barrage, his intent to use the explosive force from the missiles to force the Dark Spiner back. I can’t take too much of this pounding on my head, I need backup now!

The Dark Spiner roared viciously as its fin was destroyed. The sound of electricity filled the air as half the fin fell onto the ground and briefly exploded. The Dark Spiner ignored the Buster Eagle's attacks and turned to face the Lightening Siax. It fired a series of rounds from its machine gun attempting to cause the fleeing zoid as much pain as possible. The Dark Spiner's last few rounds where knocked off course when the Dark Horn forced it back with the brief explosion.
The Dark Spiner roared at the Dark horn and let its Machine Gun rotate as it fired a few more rounds at it. The Dark Spiner was starting to tire.

In his apathetic state Shadow didn't feel any emotions of accomplishment or glee as he destroyed the fin. Still, the instant he touched down again on the ground, he activated his ion boosters and accelerated suddenly, causing it to appear that there were multiple Lightning Saix's as he ran from the enemy. With his newly found speed and complete disregard for stealth Shadow was easily able to avoid most of the machine gun fire and took a few glancing hits that bounced of the armor relatively harmlessly. As he ran he said into the now working radio, "I've destroyed the fin of the target. Recommending immediate extermination of the target." He was now well away from the Spiner and very safe from the attacks by his teammates that were sure to come.
