"Damn, I should've expected as much." Jager rattled the keyboard with the sped of his fingers on the keys. A feint light appeared up from the holopad in front of him. "Yes, Commander." Endless Winter appeared from her holopad. "By increasing the power of the arms you sacificed mobility and reaction time." Screens showing the arms and their data flourished in front of the AI. The slow and sluggish arms punched through Zoids and hurled them across battlefields. But they were slower than an elephander. "Show the analysis of teh data im about to send you." Jager entered the necessary code and pushed 'EXE.' Endless Winter flickered and the arms appeared on the large screen once more. Much faster, they grabbed zoids and managed to push and pull them across the ground but was unable to pick up a single one. Except for Molgas and Sand Sharks. "Perfect. Now store the data and bring up the schematics for the cockpit."

Hm. Jager pondered the idea of using the head as the cockpit. It'd be just like any other zoid out there but that wouldn't be quite unique. "Scrap it." Jager demanded. Endless Winter relctantly obeyed and deleted all the data on the schematics. Jager has wored on those schematics for weeks on end. And now he was just scrapping it with no hesitation? "Bring up the schematics for the core," Endless Winter flickered and a screen showing large symmetrical shape flashed in front of Jager. He eyed the core very carefully. "O.K! Say hello to our new cockpit!" Jager smiled. "I'm going to use the head as a sensor aray, radar aray, sensor module, etc. It'll be my eyes an ears."

"Good thinking, Commander," Endless Winter said acknowledging Jager's well concieved plan. However, the cockpit would be a larger target than the head. Endless Winter came to a conclusion that the core would have to be fortified with more armor than the rest of the zoid's body. "However, you would have to fortify the core with extensive armor." Jager pondered he words for a second or two. "Your right. The core is a much larger target than the usual zoid cockpit." He typed in teh necessary code and anylized the data before sending it to Endless Winters' core matrix. She flickered once again and the zoids body-excluding it's head-appeared on the screen. It seemed fine. Its speed and mobility were still above average. It hadn't decreased much with the modified core. "Well, by the looks of things it's fine. The power on the legs must've made up for it's heavy core." Jager said. The screen faded. Jager turned. He rapid-fire typed on the keys and up came teh schematics fo the Zoid' head.

Endless Winter flickered and up came the head. "Were almost home free. Just gotta finish the data for the head and all that will be left is construction." Jager said. Endless Winter smiled. "Knowing you, Commander it will be finished in no time." Endless Winter replied. Jager smiled and nodded in Endless Winter's direction. That was a praise to his ego. "Why, thank you Winter. Everyday, my appreciation for you escalates." Jager studied the data closely. Searching for any anomalies. "Just trying to keep myelf from getting scrapped is all." Of course she knew that wouldn't happen. Jager and Viru were kind human beings and she knew it. The screen faded again. Jager turned andturned the computer off. It had been on for the last couple of years. Ever since he started his research. It wa a bit of a nostalgic moment for him.

Other than the year long computer, Jager followed the same routine. He said his good byes to his trusty AI and went to bed. The AI continued scanning the perimeter, scanning the factory fo anomalies or virus' in the computer systems, and monitering the entire factory's security systems. All at the same time. And she could have done much more with her kind of pocessing power. She didn't need rest unless she had to simultaniously give alot of her processing power for a difficult task. But the small procesing power the factory took fom her was not enough to wear her out. It wasn't a constant drainage of processing power. It was a fixed amount for certain tasks. She still had enough to handle twenty more or so factories.

"Bro?" Viru snaked into Jager's room and knelt beside his bed. "Bro!" She yelled when she realized her whispers weren't getting through. Jager jumped out of his skin ready to pounce! "Relax, it's me," Viru whispered. "Would you read some pages for me?" Viru handed him a book titled, "Ghosts of Onyx." Jager reluctanly agreed to read for her. This wasn't the first time she'd done this. She was eighteen, practically an adult but she just wouldn't let go of her childish habits. "O.K. than let's continue where we left off shall we?" Viru climbed to his bed and snuggld beside him. Feeling the protective, warm embrace under her brothers arms. She planted her head on his chest and closed her eyes. Jager opened the book and began to read out aloud.

"Miranda Keyes was the ballsiest officer in the fleet to go after that Covenant ship on her own. Was she nuts? O trying to live up to the legendary reputation of her father?" Viru stared into the very depths of her soul, thinking of her father and his large shadow she had lived in for quite some time. At least until Jager took her away and taught her how to pilot zoids. Her brother's appearance turned her sorrow into happiness and she listened as his calm deep voice soothed her soul.
"Lash would never know what 'that' felt like. His father had been a welder on the 'Cradle' . . . at least before the 'Cradle' had been destoye at Sigma Octanus earlier this year. Dad had always wanted to be a hero. He'd gotten his wish."

Jager felt his sister's heart beat harmonize with his own. She was following his chest's movement as he breathed. It was a way for her to calm herself. He peaked to see her eyes nearly closing.
"The 'Dusk-with the two frigates 'Redoubtable' and 'Paris', and the corvette 'Coral Sea'-had approximated the entrance vector of the Covenant ship, hoping to find out where they were headed, that or asist 'In Amber Clad' in blowing her to hell. They had been caught in the wake of the Covenant craft and acelerated to many times the maximum velocity of any UNSC ship in Slipspace. A lucky break. They'd have never caught it otherwise. Technically "acceleration" and "velocity were the wrong terms. They didn't map to the eleven nondimensions of slipspace, but Commander Lash had never gotten the knack for thinking so abstractly. He left that to his NAV Officer."

"What this wake effect meant in concete tems as Covenant ships traveled geometrically faster from point to point than their ships. One more strategic advantage the aliens possessed. Commander Lash surveyed his bidge crew. His first, Lieutenant Commander Julian Waters, sat next to him, scanning engine output semantics, his forehead furowed with worry lines. At NAV sat Lieutenant Bethany Durruno running diagnostics, nodding off. She had ice in her veins, and saly that calm-under-disater fortitude was wasted in slipspace."

The sound of snoring interrupted his concentration. He closed the book and placed it on the night-desk beside his bed. He thought of a way to get off teh bed and carry her to her room but whenever he tried moving she rustled and came closer to waking up. Sister always got what she wanted. Oh well. Endless Winter turned the lights off and the two siblings dove into the world inside their heads. One world of shopping and luxury and teh other of high-tech machinery and hundreds of battle zoids. Jager pictured his new humanoid zoid completed and sweeping the competition at the next tournament. He knew it wouldn't be possible though. The manufacturing would take months and the tournament was only a few weeks away. His dreams was a good one though and he wasn't about to let it go to waste. Ooh, what about boosters to make it fly with the rest of the aerial zoids? Whoah! One thing at a time Jager. First you have to get it walking on it's own two feet.

The booster attached to the back dissapeared from the humanoid, bipedal zoid. It ran and jumped like a so high and so far, it could only happen in Jager's crazy dreams. A flash of thunder struck the ground behind the zoid-for dramatic effect of course-and it unsheathed a large blade from it's hip. "Prepare to taste defeat, Evil Master!" Jager screamed at the imaginary Jagd Stinger. His humanoid zoid rushed the the giant scorpion sword extended and slashed at the evil monster! "You'll never save the princes now, Mr. Ziegfried!" The evil pilot in teh stingerlaughed maniacally as the princess atop the castle behind him yelped for her knight in shining armor to come to her rescue. "Do not worry, faire maiden! I will save you!" The humanoid zoid leaped into the air and came slashing down on the enemy zoid's stinger, cutting it in half! The Evil Master ran away saying, "You'll pay for this, White Knight!"

The humanoid zoid grew white wings and flew up to the highest room in the castle and Jager entered the fair maiden's bedroom. She embraced him with a hug and kiss as her long, blonde hair went back and forth in the night breeze. "Do not worry, I hav defated that evil villain. He will not bother you again! Now, lets go into the night and have lots of babies together!" The maiden blushed as Jager scooped her up and went flying into space with the humanoid zoid. They dissapeared into the broad star-filled universe! Meanwhile, back in the real world, Jager lay on the bed with his sister. His mouth drooling, he smiled as he saved the princess and defeated the Evil Master. While Velvet experienced a different world. Velvet fell fom the cloudy, day sky screaming thinking she was going to die when suddenly she landed on millions of handbags! She went swimming in the sea of fashion handbags. Then it started raining dresses. She figured if she though hard enough she could make things appear from the sky.

So, she thought of expensive boats. And surely enough it started raining boats. She screamed in terror once more, wishing her brother was here to help but no one answered. One boat came down and crushed her. When she opened her eyes she was on a cruise getting pampered by large bodybuilders. The ship was filled with handsome men. The captain, the first mate, even the waiters. They all bowed to her and submitted to her every will. In the real world, like-brother-like-sister she drooled all over his sleeping shirt. Moring struck, and the sunlight welcomed another day of fun for Velvet. She jumped out of bed and went off into the large building that they caled home. The giant thing could hold over 100 people. So naturally it was a new adventure everytime she went up a new floor.

Jager awoke without the warm feel of his sister next to him. What energy! It's barely morning and she's already up and exploring the building. His feet struggled to balance on the cold morning floor. A sudden voice crackled from the malfunctioning speakers in the room. "Commander, will you be heading for the lab now?" Endless Winters' voice was unmistakable, evev through a broken speaker. Jager picked himself from the floor. The voice had shocked him and sent him tumbling down. "Yes, Winter I'll be right there..." Jager replied a little cranky from the not so subtle waking. He rubbed the slimey stuff from his eyes and headed for the bathroom to wash up. Minutes hadn't past and was already near unconsciousness.

However, his head whiplashed back at the sound of loud pop music. He tried to close the door but the music was circulating the entire building. "...... .... ... .....!" He couldn't even hear himself speak! His mouth moved but it looked like if he was mute. The loud noise drowned out the heavy, fast steps stomping their way to the entertaiment room. Jager burst through the door and pressed the off switch manually knowing that Endless Winter wouldn't be able to hear him speak. "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU NOT TO PUT THE MUSIC SO LOUD!!!" Jager roared echoing through the room and corridor. The noise had made him temporarily deaf. "You dont have to scream, you know!" Velvet replied. He left the room all flustered. As a result, Endless Winter prepared a glass of Guava juice ready for him at the lab.
